Start Fit, Stay Fit Receives Healthy Lifestyles Grant Funding from the Michigan Center for Rural Health for the Second Year in a Row!!

Funding will be used to bring the empowerME4Life program to Tecumseh 5th graders again this year, as well as bring new programs to younger grades and various other programs through out the year.  Stay tuned for more information!

First Annual Kids Start Fit, Stay Fit Fun Run and Walk, May 22nd

Bring your kids to the 6th Annual Walk for Diabetes sponsered by Herrick Medical Center and The Fitness Connection.  Fun activities for kids during the adult 5K will end with a 1 mile fun run/walk for the kids on safe roads downtown Tecumseh.  Proceeds of this event will benefit childhood obesity programming at The Fitness Connection and in the community.

First Lady, Michelle Obama, to Launch Campaign to End Childhood Obesity in 1 Generation

Michelle Obama formally announced today what she called a "very ambitious" program to end the American plague of childhood obesity in a single generation.

"We want to eliminate this problem of childhood obesity in a generation. We want to get that done," the first lady told "Good Morning America's" Robin Roberts in an exclusive morning television interview. "We want our kids to face a different and more optimistic future in terms of their lifespan."

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Rachelle visits Paddock Elementary in Milan, Michigan for Jump Rope for Heart Day!  Students raise money for the American Heart Association and show off their jumping roping skills during 45 minute sessions.  Paddock Elementary has been hosting a Jump Rope for Heart event every year for more than 2 decades!

Start Fit, Stay Fit @ Tecumseh Middle School

Rachelle will be teaching a second session of the empowerME4Life program at the Tecumseh Middle School beginning in January.  This class is FREE for Tecumseh Middle School 5th graders.  Children must be registered prior to January 12th in order to participate.  Classes are held every Tuesday from 2:45 to 4:00pm.  You and your child will have the opportunity to win an autographed Detroit Lion's football and a 1 year membership to The Fitness Connection.  Please contact Rachelle at (517)424-3399 to register your child.
